Solvonis was a nameless brand with a serious mission and an exceptional team. We collaborated to create a shortlist of names that reflected their mantra and their clinical nature

With a name secured and a brand strategy in place, attention turned to building a clinical brand identity that took itself seriously, and was rooted in the laboratory.

As a listed company it needed to ensure that its IR position was clear, discoverable, and that showcase the pipeline, supported by beautiful social ID and PPT templates.
What's in a name?
This new entity needed a name to seamlessly blend into the therapeutics space. Our first dive into what became the solvonis brand meant wading through the exhausted and trademarked waters of pharmaceuticals, and therapeutics, to deliver something unique and memorable. With over 40 names in the shortlist, an exhaustive process of running through available trademarks, risks and issues landed in us in two clear opportunities, one of them, solvonis. Our rationale behind this name is connected to the belief that the outcome of the successful delivery of their pipeline, it could truly solve alcohol addiction, addictive behaviours, and address complex issues around PTSD for patients who need this to work, to get their lives in a place they can move on.
Our approach.

Our rationale behind this name is connected to the belief that the outcome of the successful delivery of their pipeline, it could truly solve alcohol addiction, addictive behaviours, and address complex issues around PTSD for patients who need this to work, to get their lives in a place they can move on.
Solvonis works on novel therapeutics for PTSD and AUD, both incredibly damaging and difficult conditions experienced by millions of people worldwide. While other brands have gone down a mix of either hopeless and dreary, patient problem approach, or the somewhat unrealistic world of sunlit uplands and incredibly hopeful imagery, this brand was focused on the science, and on the actual output of their pipeline. With one drug in Phase 2 clinical trial, and another in Phase 1, Solvonis is already making significant steps to delivering on its intended patient outcomes. While all their products are more in the lab, than available for patients, the brand aesthetic and tone needed to reflect it.
The outcome.
Solvonis were looking to present their visual identity in a clear and concise way. The precision factor was key, so much so we developed a partition device named 'The reticle' to help create engaging compositions for the brand. This device also speaks to the highly targeted nature of their work. The core elements for this brand have been created deliberately unfussy, the calming, reassuring tones of blue place this firmly in the science and medical space. The relationship with photography was explored, utilising colourised filters to create a sense of harmony and balance, whilst keeping it deliberately in the lab, not in the real world.
Our aim was to deliver a practical, unique visual ID that has scope for evolution whilst aligning with the core principles of the brand. Solvonis is unquestionably a therapeutics brand. Purposefully clinical, precise, unfussy. The white space used effectively to frame the information without any unnecessary fluff. This brand is focused squarely on results, and its upcoming clinical trials across two products in its pipeline demonstrate this focus brilliantly.
